Thursday August 8th: start of the camper trip towards Adelaide. First stop Philip Island

Today I took a cab to get me to the place where I had to pick up the camper.

Then I set my first destination: Philip Island for the Penguin Parade.
After quite a struggeling start (getting of the highway while I had to stay on it, and to get back on it quite a detour, which got me actually getting started again from the first ramp to get on it...).
But eventually, with also the help of the gps on my phone (which let me actually know what to do by giving instructions) I got on the right track and to my destination.

At the Philip Island Penguin Parade Visitor Centre I first ate the Soup of the Day, followed with a fruit salade. Realy delicious.

In the Visitor Centre there are a few info boards:

A penguin burrow

The Penguins came from out of the sea starting at sunset, then from the beach they crossed over these stones and across this little puddle to make there way back to there burrows.

During the Penguin Parade it is forbidden to take any pictures or video of them, even without a flash.
Aparently penguins are very sensitive to a blue that is in a camera (or something like that).
So no pictures of the penguin parade. Only some enviroment pictures.

After that it was time to get me a parking (camping) spot for the night.
It took me longer and more difficult than I had expected. Eventually I found a place if I was able to make it in 30 min. (which I did, without braking any laws). They were very friendly. Aparently smaller campings close at 18:00, espicially in the winter.
This is the view when looking out of the back window. The lights in the dark are (if I'm not mistaken) from the City Melbourne.
